Little Legs Dog & Cat Rescue Featuring Cheese the Cat

Update: 2/2/26 - Cheese has now gone on a trial run for a possible forever home!

The Kawaii Nest’s latest donation is to help out Little Legs Dog & Cat Rescue QLD Inc, a small Brisbane-based rescue that takes in at-risk cats and small dogs from pounds and private surrenders.

They don’t have a shelter. Every animal is cared for in a loving foster home until adopted. Their work is entirely funded by adoption fees and donations, and run by a small, dedicated team of foster carers and volunteers.

Little Legs also runs a Retiree Program for animals who aren’t suitable for rehoming due to advanced age, significant medical needs or behavioural challenges. Many of these animals live with chronic or terminal conditions, and without this program, they might not get the chance to live out their remaining time in comfort and security.

Through the program, each animal is placed in a permanent foster home and fully supported for life. This includes:

• Ongoing vet care and surgeries if needed
• Medications for long-term health conditions
• Routine flea, worming and vaccination treatments
• Specialised prescription diets tailored to individual needs

At the moment, the Retiree Program is supporting 14 animals - 8 dogs and 6 cats.

If you’d like to follow their work or see some of the animals currently in care, you can find them on Facebook or visit Little Legs Dog & Cat Rescue Qld - Little Legs Dog & Cat Rescue

Having fostered cats in the past, I know how hard it can be for adult cats to find their forever home. That’s why I’m proud to be helping share Cheese’s story, just look at this beauty with her gorgeous bushy tail and bright eyes!

Cheese was abandoned while pregnant and lovingly raised her kittens, all of whom have since been adopted. She’s now been in care for over 290 days.

Cheese is shy at first but gentle and affectionate once she feels safe. She likes to quietly follow her person around the house, enjoys her toys, and would do best as the only cat. She also requires a urinary prescription diet to stay healthy.

If you're in the Greater Brisbane area and want to learn more, you can find her adoption profile and application form at:

Thank you for supporting my small business and making this possible!
